About
The person behind the scissors.
I'm Amy. I have been cutting hair since I was eighteen, and I still get a buzz from it. There is something about watching someone see a fresh cut in the mirror for the first time. That bit never gets old.
I trained at a salon in Clifton and spent six years working in some of the busiest spots in Bristol. I loved the work but not the setup. Clients squeezed into tiny gaps, double-booked Saturdays, the constant background noise. I knew I could offer something better.
So in 2021, I packed up my kit, bought a decent car, and started The Roaming Chair. Since then I have not looked back.
Why mobile?
Salon appointments are fine for some people. But for a lot of my clients, a home visit just works better. Here is why.
Your own space
No waiting rooms, no strangers in the next chair. Just you, your music, your tea, and a proper haircut.
Fits around your life
Mornings, afternoons, evenings. We find a time that works for you. No rushing across town to make a slot.
Genuinely relaxed
Most of my clients say it feels like having a mate round who happens to be brilliant at hair. That is the goal.
A bit more background
I hold NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing and have completed additional training in advanced colour techniques and bridal styling. I keep my skills sharp with regular courses and always stay on top of new products and methods.
I am fully insured and DBS checked, which matters particularly for clients who want me working around children or elderly family members. I carry professional products from brands I trust and that I know will deliver results without damaging your hair.
Outside of work, you will usually find me walking my dog along the harbour, or hunting down the best coffee in Clifton (still accepting recommendations). I live in Redland with my partner and our slightly neurotic cocker spaniel, Margot.
Fancy a chat?
